ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team won its first home match of the spring campaign by a 7-2 decision over King's (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, March 25.
Due to a pair of mid-day snow showers, the contest began indoors at the Arnold Sports Center before the top three singles matches were completed outside at the Shankroff Tennis Center. Because of the delay, singles competitions were played as eight-point pro sets.
The Flying Dutchmen (4-5) got off to a good start, taking two out of the three doubles contests. The No. 2 pairing of
Sammy Bost and
Megan Williams handled the Monarchs' Emily Kabalka and Natalie Coffee 8-1, while
Elise Hanks-Witaszek and
Emily Wilczek swept Alexis Zalutko and Alyssa Santarelli 8-0 in the third matchup.
LVC was nearly perfect in singles action and won five of the six outings. Inside, Williams and
Meridyth Sanders posted 8-4 victories over their King's counterparts in the No. 5 and No. 6 matches, respectively. Bost clinched the overall match for the Dutchmen with an 8-2 decision in the No. 3 pairing, while
Melanie Haas came away with an 8-3 win over Kabalka in the second matchup.
Marla Scacchitti wrapped things up with an 8-4 victory over Julia Keppel in the battle of each team's No. 1 solo player.
Lebanon Valley returns to action when the squad travels to Elizabethtown for the final non-conference match of the spring on Tuesday afternoon, March 27.
