LVC to Host Annual Rhoades Foundation Classic This Weekend

1/3/2018 1:39:00 PM

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley College will host the annual Rhoades Foundation Classic this Saturday afternoon, Jan. 6, with three high school boys' basketball games highlighting a full day's worth of hoops at Sorrentino Gymnasium.

The three-game Rhoades Foundation Classic gets underway at 3 p.m. when Annville-Cleona takes on Middletown. The second matchup of the day pits local schools Lebanon and Palmyra against each other at 5 p.m. The nightcap features a battle of the Falcons as Cedar Crest will square off with Lower Dauphin at 7 p.m.

A one-time $5 fee will gain patrons admission to all three games. The Classic supports the Rhoades Foundation, which was created in memory of State Sen. James J. Rhoades, who represented the 29th District until his death in an automobile accident in 2008. The foundation awards academic scholarships to deserving students and administers charitable funds to meet the needs of the community. Rhoades was the father of LVC basketball legend Mike Rhoades '95, who led LVC to the 1994 NCAA Championship and is now head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU).
