YORK, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team opened the fall portion of its 2017-18 campaign at York (Pa.) on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 24. The Flying Dutchmen (0-1) fell 9-0 to the Spartans (2-3) in their first outing of the season.
In doubles action, newcomers
Sammy Bost and
Emily Wilczek took York's No. 3 pairing of Jessica Sherman and Caroline to the limit in a 9-7 defeat. Returners
Melanie Haas and
Marla Scacchitti teamed up as LVC's top duo, while fellow returners
Megan Williams and
Elise Hanks-Witaszek comprised the No. 2 pairing.
Scacchitti began the year as Lebanon Valley's top singles player, while Haas opened the fall in the No. 2 slot. Bost debuted at No. 3, while returner
Elizabeth Drda started the season in the fourth singles slot. Williams competed in the No. 5 spot and freshman
Meridyth Sanders took the Spartans' Hannah Shinsky to three sets before falling in the sixth matchup.
LVC will look to pick up its first win of the young season when the team hosts Scranton at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 26.
