Field Hockey Home Opener to Benefit Foundation for Childhood Cancer

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley field hockey head coach Amber Corcoran '09 has announced that the team's home opener against Juniata on Sept. 6 will also serve as a youth night in hopes of raising awareness for Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF).

ALSF is a national childhood cancer foundation dedicated to raising funds for research into new treatments and cures for all children battling cancer. Alexandra Scott, the foundation's namesake, was diagnosed with neuroblastoma shortly before her first birthday in 1997. When she was just four years old, Alex held her first childhood cancer fundraiser in her front yard and raised more than $2,000. By the time she passed away in 2004, Alex's fundraising had amassed $1 million.

"Our hope is to carry on Alex's legacy and raise both awareness and money for new supplies and treatment for children struggling with cancer," said Corcoran.

Annville's Youth Field Hockey League will be in attendance and all local middle school, high school, and club programs are encouraged to attend LVC's home opener. Admission is free and a meet and greet with Flying Dutchmen players and coaches will be held following the game's conclusion. All proceeds raised will go to ALSF.

LVC opens its home slate when the team hosts Juniata at Arnold Field on Wednesday night, Sept. 6 at 7 p.m.
