HERSHEY, Pa. – One of Lebanon Valley's best seasons in recent memory came to an end in a down-to-the-wire MAC Commonwealth Championship Match loss to Messiah at the Hershey Racquet Club. The Flying Dutchmen (14-5) fought to the end before falling 5-3 to the defending conference champions on Saturday evening.
Melanie Haas and
Elise Hanks-Witaszek put on a show in easily picking up LVC's first point of the match when they defeated the Falcons' Meagan Scala and Emily Wichert 8-2 in the No. 3 doubles contest.

Rebecca Pierpont gritted her way through a long second set to earn the final victory of her collegiate career for the Dutchmen with a 6-4, 7-6 decision over Carly Dove in the No. 2 matchup. Recent MAC Commonwealth Second-Team All-Conference honoree
Marla Scacchitti shook off a first-set loss and caught fire en route to a 0-6, 6-4, 6-4 win over Kelly Hopkins in the top solo outing.
The Dutchmen finished the 2016-17 campaign with 14 victories; the most the team has racked up since the 2011-12 season when they finished with 15 wins.
