ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley made it tough on Elizabethtown in the team's 8-1 loss to the Blue Jays at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Despite emerging victorious in just one matchup, the Flying Dutchmen (5-3) pushed E-Town players to extra points in five of the contests, beginning with a pair of 9-7 defeats in the first and third doubles matches, respectively.
Marla Scacchitti and
Melanie Haas fought hard in the top contest, while
Alyssa Potosnak and
Megan Williams fell just short in the third outing.
Haas played the role of iron woman in her No. 3 singles match against Elizabethtown's Lenea Riehl, falling 7-5 in the first set before reeling off a 6-1 victory and finally securing a lengthy 13-11 decision to secure the win.
A contest against Ursinus at the Shankroff Tennis Center on Thursday afternoon is LVC's final non-conference outing of the spring. The Dutchmen begin MAC Commonwealth play when they host Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.
