TOWSON, Md. – Lebanon Valley's women's tennis team took part in the Goucher Invitational over the weekend and a number of Flying Dutchmen shined at the Gophers' annual two-day event.
 
LVC's No. 1 doubles pairing of Marla Schacchitti and Melanie Hass won all three matches in which they competed at the tournament, beginning with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Kean's Anna Chan and Kayla Miller. The duo followed it up with a 7-6, 6-0 win over Nina Bretz and Megan Waskiewicz of Stevenson before capping their weekend with a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Gwynedd Mercy's Nicolette Diaz and Jenna Trythall.
 
Elise Hanks-Witaszek and Megan Williams were also perfect in doubles action for the Dutchmen. The No. 2 duo defeated Goucher's Sara Healy and Katie Mazerka 6-4, 6-0 to begin competition and followed it up with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Stevenson's Rebecca Connelly and Lindzie King. They wrapped things up with a hard-fought 2-6, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5) win over Katelyn Emick and Brittany Metzlaff of Stockton.
 
Sammy Bost impressed in singles action when she stepped up from her usual No. 3 spot to compete in the No. 1 singles group. Just three matches into her playing career, she picked up her first victory with a 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-1) decision over Kean's Naylah Hinton and capped her weekend with a big-time 7-6, 6-1 win over Jenna Skove from Stevenson.
 
Elizabeth Drda competed in the No. 2 bracket for LVC, while Rachel Duong picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win over Kean's Rose Hughes in the No. 3 grouping. Leah Wingert added a pair of victories for the Dutchmen when she topped Gwynedd Mercy's Andrea Hernandez 6-1, 6-0 and bested Kean's Haley Colacurcio 7-6, 6-1 in Satellite competition.
 
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 4 when the team hosts Penn State Harrisburg at the Shankroff Tennis Center.
