ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley was defeated by MAC Commonwealth foe Messiah 9-0 in the team's conference opener on Saturday afternoon.
LVC's top doubles team of
Rebecca Pierpont and
Marla Scacchitti fell 8-5 to their Messiah counterparts, as did
Ariana Freeman and
Alyssa Potosnak in the matchup of the teams' number two duos.
Allison Weidman and
Megan Williams were slotted in the number three doubles spot and eventually fell to Sydney Schandel and Emily Doron 8-3.
Elizabeth Drda made things tough on Doron in a 7-5, 6-3 setback in the number six singles outing, while Scacchitti posted six points in a 6-4, 6-2 defeat at the hands of Kelly Hopkins, the Falcons' number two solo player. Freeman also tallied six total points before dropping a 6-2, 6-4 decision to Kaitlyn Russell in the number three matchup.
Lebanon Valley's match against King's (Pa.) originally scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been postponed due to frigid weather moving through this weekend. No makeup date has yet to be announced. The Dutchmen are next in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Stevenson.
