WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Lebanon Valley's recent roll continued as the team won its fourth match in a row by sweeping MAC Commonwealth foe Lycoming 9-0 on Tuesday afternoon.
The Flying Dutchmen (7-7, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) set the tone in doubles play, winning all three matches by no less than four games.
Rebecca Pierpont and
Marla Scacchitti, the team's top doubles duo, took care of Lyco's pairing of Kaitlin Hallbuk and Sophie Herzing 8-3,
Ariana Freeman and
Alyssa Potosnak handled Kimberleigh Parroccini and Brittany Lenze 8-2 in the number two matchup, and
Allison Weidman and
Megan Williams finished things off with an 8-4 win over Samantha Bruckart and Ashley Stover.
Pierpont had a formidable opponent in Herzing in the number one singles match but emerged victorious 7-5, 6-3. Scacchitti, the reigning MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis Player of the Week, won her fourth straight match in the number two slot with a 6-3, 6-2 decision over Hallabuk.
Olivia Edwards made quick work of Parroccini with a 6-2, 6-0 win and Freeman was nearly perfect in a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mariah Durrant. Potosnak showed her mettle by besting Bruckart in three sets in the number five singles pairing and
Elizabeth Drda breezed in a 6-0, 6-1 win over Stover in the six spot.
Riding a season-long four-match win streak, the Dutchmen will host Hood in their next matchup on Saturday afternoon.
