ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley picked up its first MAC Commonwealth victory of the spring by defeating Arcadia 8-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

The Flying Dutchmen (4-7, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) earned the win in convincing fashion, taking two of three from the Knights (1-12, 1-2 MAC Commonwealth) in doubles play before sweeping all six singles matches.

Rebecca Pierpont and Marla Scacchitti had to work hard to pick up a 9-8 victory over Allyson Naiken and Megan Obarowski in a battle of the teams' top duos, while Megan Williams and Allison Weidman gave LVC the advantage after doubles play with an 8-5 win over Janelle Bradley and Amy MacNeill in the number three matchup.

Pierpont took down Naiken 6-4, 6-0 in the top singles pairing before Scacchitti and Olivia Edwards had to fight back from early deficits to earn their solo victories. Scacchitti eventually dispatched of Zoe Foglia 4-6, 6-1, 10-3 in the number two outing, while Edwards picked up a 4-6, 6-2, 10-7 come-from-behind win in the number three slot.

Ariana Freeman made quick work of MacNeill in the number four matchup thanks to a 6-2, 6-0 decision, Elizabeth Drda handled Bradley 6-1, 6-0 in the number five outing, and Weidman made it a clean singles sweep with a strong 6-1, 6-1 victory over Nicole Shulman in the number six pairing.

The Dutchmen are back in action this weekend when they host another MAC Commonwealth foe in Albright on Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m.
