MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Lebanon Valley finished the fall portion of its schedule without a blemish on its record thanks to a 7-2 victory over Penn State Harrisburg at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 5.
The Flying Dutchmen (3-0) won all three doubles matches but LVC's top duo of
Marla Scacchitti and
Rebecca Pierpont had to work hard to defeat Alicia Hitz and Sydney Nye 8-6.
Melanie Haas and
Allison Weidman teamed up to best the Lions' Tian Chang Luo and Sarah Shahriar 8-3 in the second doubles matchup, while
Alyssa Potosnak and
Megan Williams made it a doubles sweep with an 8-1 win over Elena Pichner and Shevia Ansary in the number three outing.
Haas secured LVC's highest solo victory in singles play, as she handled Shahriar 6-1, 6-0 in the number three showdown. Potosnak dispatched of Luo 6-1, 6-2 in the fourth singles matchup and Williams made quick work of Ansary in a 6-1, 6-0 defeat of Ansary in the five spot. Weidman held off Pichner in the sixth singles pairing and eventually came away with a 6-3, 6-2 victory.
With dual-match play now finished for the fall, the Dutchmen will next be in action when they take part in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Individual Championship Tournament next weekend at Wilkes. Competition begins next Saturday, Oct. 15.
