Photo GalleryJONESTOWN, Pa. – Last week, members of the Lebanon Valley men's basketball team traveled to nearby Jonestown Elementary School and spent the day instilling the importance of reading to students.
John Rizzo '05, a Lebanon Valley College graduate and the elementary school's principal, helped arrange the LVC visit that included players spending time with students in their classrooms and reading to children in grades 1-5.
"We read to and spent time with each class in hopes of expressing the importance of reading to the younger students," said LVC head coach
Brad McAlester about his team's visit. "The program was arranged with the help of John Rizzo, an LVC graduate and a former men's basketball player."
Rizzo graduated from LVC in 2005 and later earned his master's and Educational Leadership degrees from Alvernia. His love for basketball continues to this day, as he's spent the last 10 years coaching at the high school and college levels.
In addition to spreading the message of the importance of the printed page, Dutchmen players gathered with the smiling students for a number of photos. Be sure to check them out by clicking
