How It HappenedLebanon Valley won its fifth consecutive game on Sunday afternoon as the Dutchmen held off a furious Daniel Webster rally and edged out the Eagles by a 6-5 score. LVC improved its overall record to 17-3, while the Division III opponent Daniel Webster fell to 3-12.
The Eagles got on the board first just over three minutes into the game when Ryan Murray scored to make it 1-0 Daniel Webster. Two minutes later however, The Dutchmen evened it up at 1-1 when 
Russ Armbruster scored off assists from 
Mike Straub and 
PJ Hefferin. Later in the period at the 9:55 minute mark, Straub gave LVC the lead when he scored off another assist from Hefferin. With 4:19 left in the opening period, 
Nick Skerlick took advantage of a Daniel Webster turnover in its own zone and beat the goalie to extend the lead to 3-1. Then with 2:17 to go, Straub struck again from 
Matthew Reno and Hefferin to make the score 4-1 after one period of action. Hefferin achieved the playmaker in just one period of action with his three assists.
In the second period, LVC made it 5-1 when 
Bryan Hovanec scored on the power play from 
Zach McKown, while Hefferin notched his fourth assist of the game on the scoring play. Down by four goals midway through the second, the Eagles began to comeback when Jeremy Hannah scored at 8:09 to bring Daniel Webster to within three at 5-2. Five minutes later at 3:40, Dan Bellafiore netted a goal on a 2-on-1 to make it a 5-3 game, which was the score heading into the third period.
The Eagles kept the momentum going in the third period and scored at 17:11 to make it 5-4. The Dutchmen came back to life at 12:05 when McKown blasted one from the right side that beat Daniel Webster's goalie and put LVC back up by two at 6-4. Less than a minute later, the Eagles' Murray scored his second of the game to make it 6-5. For the remainder of the game, the Dutchmen were able to keep Daniel Webster off the scoreboard and the Eagles were unable to score on the man-advantage with the goalie pulled in the final minute of action, giving LVC the 6-5 win.
Inside the Numbers - The Dutchmen outshot the Eagles 44-29 on the afternoon.

Chase Wilson made 24 saves on the afternoon to improve his record to 5-1.
 - LVC went to the penalty box three times today, while Daniel Webster had five penalties.
Stars of the GameMike Straub was today's third star, notching two goals in the first period. Daniel Webster's Murray was the second star, as he had two goals and two assists on the afternoon, and Hefferin was the star of the game with four assists.
