ANNVILLE, Pa. - It took a week to finish, but Lebanon Valley picked up a key Commonwealth Conference win over Alvernia, 6-3, in their resumed match on Tuesday.
The Dutchmen (9-6, 3-0 CC) had led 2-1 after doubles, which were originally contested on April 7 before the match was halted by rain. Those results carried over, and LVC won the middle four singles matches to seal the team win.
Lori Noble led the singles victories with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 2, and reigning CC Player of the Week
Nicole Kracum extended her win streak to four with a superbreaker win at No. 3.
Brittany Dierwechter and
Marla Scacchitti won at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively.
In doubles play, it was Kracum and
Mary Kate Lemon with an 8-1 win at No. 1 and Dierwechter and Scacchitti with an 8-2 victory at No. 2 to snag LVC's points. The win at No. 1 ties Lemon for second all-time at LVC with 55 doubles wins, chasing the program record of 58 held by former teammate
Christie Graf '14.
LVC will visit Messiah Wednesday.
