How It HappenedBryan Hovanec scored four goals and Lebanon Valley completed the weekend sweep of Drexel with a convincing 8-3 victory over the Dragons in Philadelphia on Saturday night.
The freshman netted the game's first two scores less than three minutes into the contest.
Justin Boyd and
Jake Thomas assisted on his first goal.
Drexel cut the deficit in half when Ryan Beneduce scored with less than a minute remaining in the first period but the Flying Dutchmen responded with three straight goals to open the second period.
Andy Thurby converted the first and third of the period while Hovanec completed the hat trick 12 minutes into stanza.
The Dragons stopped the bleeding momentarily when Adam Ferrara found the back of the net but LVC put its foot back on the gas as
Cody Pessig and Hovanec added scores with less than a minute and a half left in the second period.
Mike Churchvara converted a goal for Drexel early in the third but
Ryan Maraldo slammed the door on the Dragons with the game's final score off a
Joey LaBonte assist just moments after the ensuing face-off.
Star of the GameBryan Hovanec – The freshman wing turned in the best performance of his young career, netting four goals, including the game-winner. He completed the hat trick midway through the second period and now leads the team with nine goals and 11 total points on the season.

- The eight goals scored by the Dutchmen was the team's second-highest single-game total of the season.
