LVC Women's Basketball to Host Eighth Annual Pink Game

ANNVILLE, Pa. - On Saturday, Jan. 24, Lebanon Valley's women's basketball program will host its eighth annual Pink Game in hopes of spreading breast cancer awareness. The Flying Dutchmen host the defending Commonwealth Conference champions from Messiah at 1 p.m.

LVC has hosted the Pink Game every season since 2007. The event aims to raise awareness regarding breast cancer detection, treatment, and prevention. A jersey auction, commemorative pink t-shirt sale, and prize giveaways are Pink Game staples and proceeds will once again benefit the American Cancer Society of Lebanon and the Genetics Program at the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute.

Each year, the Dutchmen don specially-designed pink uniforms for one night only and encourage the Lebanon Valley faithful to sport pink gear in support of a great cause. Each one-of-a-kind jersey is currently available for auction on GoDutchmen.com and in-person bids will be accepted on game day at Sorrentino Gymnasium until the start of the second half.

One lucky fan will also have the opportunity to win a new car courtesy of Frederick Chevrolet in Lebanon. At halftime, one attendee will be chosen at random and given a chance to make a half-court shot. If the attempt is good, he/she will drive off in a new Chevy.

"I am very excited to be taking part in the Pink Game with our women's basketball team," said Amy Sokaitis, prepping for her first Pink Game as Lebanon Valley head coach. "It's a tremendous opportunity to give back, locally. LVC women's basketball cannot thank Ed and Jeanne Arnold enough for their support in this cause."

The Arnolds will join Sokaitis, Penn State Hershey's Dr. Maria Baker, LVC team captains Kiely Chaklos, Taylor Umbrell, and Alyssa Cirucci, and a representative from the Lebanon chapter of the American Cancer Society in a ceremonial pregame check presentation.

Fans planning to attend the game are encouraged to arrive early as a sell-out crowd is expected. There is no charge for admission but donations will be accepted to benefit the American Cancer Society and the Penn State Hershey Cancer Institute. A free shuttle service will run from remote parking lots on LVC's campus before and after the game.
