Commonwealth Conference Semifinals
Lebanon Valley 5, Albright 0
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Strong doubles play put LVC ahead early as they blanked Albright, 5-0, in the Commonwealth Conference semifinals on Thursday.
The Dutchmen (11-4) will advance to their seventh straight Commonwealth Conference final on Saturday, all of them against Elizabethtown. LVC is bidding to win its first crown since 2009 and will visit E-town, the top seed in this year's tournament.
After falling to Victoria Foanio and Alyssa Sell in the regular season 8-4, LVC's No. 1 doubles team of
Amelia Capuano and
Christie Graf flipped the result with a superb 8-3 win to cap off doubles. That highlighted a strong pairs effort after
Lori Noble and
Lauren Shanberg shut out Melissa Carberry and Christina Peacock 8-0 at No. 3 and
Mary Kate Lemon and
Nicole Kracum beat Brooke Ronney and Erin Sullivan 8-4 at No. 2.
It didn't take long for LVC to polish off the match with a pair of shutout wins in singles. Kracum beat Elizabeth Bengtsson at No. 5, and Graf bageled Ronney at No. 2 to clinch the match.
