Box Score Women's Basketball
Lebanon Valley College 85, Albright College 71
ANNVILLE, Pa. – Sophomore
Peyton Carper posted a career-high 21 points to lead five Dutchmen in double figures as the Lebanon Valley women's basketball team topped Albright on Saturday afternoon, 85-71.
Carper went 9-for-13 from the field and 2-for-3 from three-point range on the day, adding five rebounds and a steal to cap off her historic day. Freshman
Lexie Lantz recorded 15 points and senior
Caitlin Bach tallied 12 points, while senior
Lauren Ruhl and junior
Kiely Chaklos chipped in with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Both teams were very efficient on the offensive end as the Valley (16-4, 10-3 CC) held a slight edge in a low-rebounding affair, 27-25. Albright (12-9, 6-8 CC) went 25-for-43 from the field (58.1%) and 7-for-14 from three-point range (50.0%), while the Valley dropped 31 of their 60 shot attempts from the floor (51.7%) and went 20-for-25 from the charity stripe (80.0%).
Albright's Amanda Tiritilli drained a shot from distance at the 5:44 mark in the first half as it looked like the Lions were finally going to break open a tight contest. However, the Valley used an 18-6 run at the end of the half to take over the game with a five-point, 41-36 lead going into the break.
Coming out in the second half, LVC gradually increased its lead as the Lions cut the edge to three just 1:25 into the half, but never trailed by less than five, after a Carper jumper 30 seconds later, for the rest of the game.
A layup from Lantz at the 13-minute mark moved the LVC lead into double figures and the Dutchmen coasted throughout the second half, pulling away for an 85-71 victory.
Next up for the Valley is a trip to Frederick, Md. on Monday evening for a matchup with Hood at 6 p.m.
