#25 Dutchmen Complete Weekend Sweep of West Chester

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – #25 Lebanon Valley picked up its second-straight victory over ESCHL foe West Chester on Saturday night, Nov. 8.  After falling behind early, the Flying Dutchmen rallied to knock off the hometown Golden Rams 4-1.

For the second time in as many nights, WCU got on the board first.  John Mango netted his second goal of the weekend, a power play conversion off assists from John Albanese and Jimmy Mckee, to put the Rams up 1-0 with 3:31 remaining in the first period.

The Blue and White turned the tide thanks to a big second period in which the Dutchmen scored four times.  Senior Nick Schultz netted the equalizer off an assist from freshman Ryan Maraldo two minutes into the stanza and freshman Zach McKown converted the eventual game-winner two minutes later off assists by junior captain PJ Hefferin and freshman Nate Kohlenhoefer.

LVC padded the lead when sophomore Justin Boyd's rebound attempt found twine with 7:08 remaining off a great effort from freshman Cody Pessig and a second assist from Kohlenhoefer.  Schultz bookended the game's scoring with his second goal of the night at the period's 3:08 mark off an assist from freshman Russ Armbruster.

"We started out slow in the first period," said Lebanon Valley head coach Don Parsons about his team's progression.  "We picked it up in the second and put it in overdrive for the third period."

Parsons was pleased with the outing by Chase Wilson as the freshman goaltender made 30 saves on the night and allowed just the lone West Chester power play score.  The Dutchmen head coach also applauded the efforts of senior Josh Martin and junior Cole Godfrey as the pair filled in admirably and played well in place of junior assistant captain Andy Thurby and sophomore Joey LaBonte

The victory improved Lebanon Valley to 7-5 on the season and 4-4 in ESCHL play.  The pair of wins on Friday and Saturday completed the Dutchmen's second sweep of ESCHL competition of the season as they bested then-#22 Rutgers in back-to-back outings in early October.  The Blue and White take a break from league play when they face Drexel next weekend in another home-and-home series on Friday, Nov. 14 and Saturday, Nov. 15.
