PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Lebanon Valley defeated a nine-win Drexel squad 6-2 on Saturday night, Nov. 15, avenging a loss to the Dragons in Hershey the night before. LVC head coach
Don Parsons described his team's latest victory as the Flying Dutchmen's most complete overall performance of the year.
Trailing the home team 2-1 at the start of the third period, the Dutchmen exploded for five goals in the final stanza to leave no doubt.
Joey LaBonte,
Alexander Toppin, and
Russ Armbruster netted scores in the period to completely swing the momentum in LVC's favor.
Zach McKown had the biggest night offensively, scoring a game-high two goals.
Lebanon Valley freshman goaltender
Brendan Manquen was solid between the pipes and made 24 saves on the night. He got help from his defense as the Dutchmen penalty kill was in top form in this one, most notably when the Blue and White fought off a five-minute Drexel power play following a boarding call.
The victory improved Lebanon Valley to 8-6 on the season and kept the Dragons from completing the sweep of the home-and-home weekend series. The Dutchmen return to ESCHL action when they host a league foe in #13 Delaware on Friday night, Nov. 21 at Hersheypark Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m.
