Healy Shuts Out West Chester for Fifth Straight

Ice Hockey
Lebanon Valley College 3, West Chester University 0

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Sophomore goalie Matt Healy posted his first career shutout to lead the Lebanon Valley ice hockey team over West Chester on Friday evening, 3-0, for the team's fifth consecutive victory.

With the win, the Valley now sits at 11-15-1 on the year, having won nine of its last 14 games after a slide of 12 straight losses earlier this season.

Healy has been a major influence in the team's recent successes, allowing just seven goals over this five-game winning streak. The sophomore stopped all 21 shots thrown at him by the Golden Rams in the win.

Sophomore Andy Thurby opened the scoring in the first as he worked around the net for a beautiful wraparound marker to take an early 1-0 lead.

In the second, freshman Joey LaBonte converted on a powerplay for the 2-0 advantage and classmate Jake Thomas put in an insurance marker with a powerplay goal in the third to push the final score to 3-0.

PJ Hefferin, Brennan Thompson, and Tyler Skroski also recorded assists on the night.

The Valley are back at it tomorrow as they search for the weekend sweep in West Chester at 4:45 p.m.
