Caitlin Bach led the scoring for the Dutchmen with 17 points on the day and Chaklos added eight points for the Valley attack. Ty Bender and Kayla Kelly posted 14 and 10 points, respectively, to lead the Mustangs.
The Valley dominated the glass for the third straight game, holding a 47-24 edge on the boards, but couldn't convert those opportunities, with just seven second-chance points on the day.
Free throws from Bach put the Valley up early, 7-4, in a defensive start to the game. However, back-to-back threes from the Mustangs put Stevenson in front, 10-7, and they never relinquished that lead for the remainder of the game.
After a half that saw the Valley go in trailing, 25-17, LVC came out with a purpose in the second making it a three-point game at 29-26 just three minutes into the second stanza.
Back-and-forth throughout the remainder of the game, the Valley had a chance to win it in the finals seconds.
Trailing 55-52 with 6.8 seconds on the clock, Chaklos took the inbounds pass and found space at the top of the key as she raced up the court. Her effort rang off the right side of the rim and the buzzer sounded on the 55-52 Stevenson victory.
Next up for the Valley is a trip back home as they host Lycoming on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
