Baseball Closes Spring With Win Over Geneva

FORT PIERCE, Fla. – Phill Dohner continued his hot hitting and helped lead the baseball team to a 7-3 win over Geneva Thursday in the team's spring break finale in Florida.
 
Dohner hit 3-for-5 with two RBIs and three runs scored from the two-hole. Tim Filer hit 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run in the next slot, and Dylan Tamecki went 1-for-4 with two RBIs batting clean up.
 
Austin Hornberger earned his second win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing just three runs. He finished with six strikeouts to five hits and two walks.
 
LVC built a 5-0 lead by the fourth inning. Filer put the team on the board with an RBI double in the first and scored on the next at bat on a single by Tamecki.
 
Tamecki knocked in the team's next run in the third when he reached on an error that sent Dohner to the plate.
 
The big hit came in the fourth, when Dohner hit the team's first homerun of the season – a two-run shot that plated Andrew Wooley.
 
After allowing three runs in the sixth on a Geneva homerun, the Dutchmen pushed back with an RBI double by Derek Brousseau and an RBI single by Filer.
