Women's Tennis
Lebanon Valley 7, Albright 2
READING, Pa. - Lebanon Valley kicked off Commonwealth Conference women's tennis play with a 7-2 win over Albright.
The Dutchmen (6-4, 1-0 CC) controlled the match 3-0 through doubles, including a big win at No. 1 as
Amelia Capuano and
Lauren Fulmer dealt Victoria Foanio and Alyssa Sell their first dual-match loss of the season with a 9-8 (3) win. The decision let Fulmer tie former teammate Shayna Heintzelman '11 for the program doubles record with 49 wins; combined with her 50-23 career singles mark, she is one victory away from becoming just the third player in program history to reach 100 wins.
In singles, Foanio and Sell both got their revenge with wins over Capuano and Fulmer at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively, but LVC won everywhere else to close out the match.
Meghan Muccilli beat Melissa Carberry 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3, and
Mary Kate Lemon blanked Elizabeth Bengtsson at No. 4.
Lori Noble won 6-1, 6-2, over Erin Sullivan at No. 5, and
Lauren Shanberg beat Christina Peacock 6-3, 6-1 at No. 6.
The Dutchmen will visit King's College on Tuesday.
