HERSHEY, Pa. - A late winner by West Chester capped off a three-goal rally to sink Lebanon Valley 3-2 Friday night at Hersheypark Arena.
The Dutchmen (2-8-1) led 2-0 at the midpoint of the game, but two quick goals late in the second period by the Golden Rams (6-4-0) tied things up before Ryan McMahon potted the gamewinner with 3:16 left in the third.
Joe Labonte started the scoring with 5:47 left in the first, working a 2-on-1 break with
Andy Thurby to put the Dutchmen ahead 1-0.
Dylan Kapp doubled the lead two minutes into the second, scoring off
Gaige VandeZande, but West Chester potted two goals in a 1:16 span late in the period to tie it up. Justin Finnerty scored off an expiring penalty to start the rally, and James Davis squeeked a skipping puck past
Matt Healy to tie it at 2-2 with 1:26 left in the period.
The winner came with 3:16 left in the game when McMahon converted a centering feed from Jim McKee to put the Golden Rams (6-4-0) ahead.
Shots were 31-29 in favor of West Chester. Randy Japchen made 27 saves for the win, while
Matt Healy stopped 28 in the loss for LVC.
The two teams will skate again Saturday at 3 p.m. at Hersheypark Arena.
