ANNVILLE, Pa. – Senior
Jess Finlayson recorded her 1,000th dig as the Lebanon Valley volleyball team split the final two matches of its regular season on Saturday afternoon inside LVC Gymnasium.
In the opening match of the day, the Dutchmen swept Scranton with set scores of 25-17, 25-18, and 25-20. Junior
Kayla Confer was the kills leader for the match with 13 on 28 attacks with just three errors for a .357 hitting percentage.
Junior
Kacey Musselman posted a double-double with 34 assists and 11 digs, while sophomore
Alli Quirk was big at the net with four block assists. Quirk also added nine kills offensively and Finlayson chipped in with nine digs in the back.
Prior to the second match of the day, the LVC volleyball senior class was honored consisting of
Sarah Godfrey, Finlayson,
Megan Schoch, and
Courtney Escudero. Finlayson led the defense with 13 digs, while Godfrey was second on the team with nine kills as LVC dropped their final regular season match, 3-1, with set scores of 23-25, 8-25, 25-14, and 17-25.
Confer again led the offense with 12 kills and Musselman posted 31 assists and four service aces. Freshman
Rachel Moltz chipped in defensively with 10 digs, while Quirk recorded two block assists and a block solo at the net.
The second-seeded Dutchmen will host third-seeded Messiah on Wednesday in the Commonwealth Conference Semifinals at 7 p.m.
