ANNVILLE, Pa. - A three-set win by
Amelia Capuano at No. 1 and strong doubles play helped LVC edge Scranton, 5-4, on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (2-2) led 2-1 after doubles thanks to Nos. 2 and 3, thanks to
Meghan Muccilli and
Mary Kate Lemon winning 8-3 at No. 2 and
Lauren Fulmer and
Lori Noble winning 8-6 at No. 3.
The two teams split singles, with Capuano beating Megan Azzalina 7-6 (10-8), 2-6, 6-2 in three at No. 1. and
Christie Graf beating Emily Walsh 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2. Noble won LVC's other point with a 6-3, 6-0 victory at No. 6.
Scranton's wins were at No. 3, with Nicole Mahaffey beating Fulmer 7-6 (3), 6-4, at No. 4 as Devon Cohen defeated Muccilli 6-3, 6-1, and at No. 5 where Lisa-Marie Lanciotti beat Lemon 6-2, 6-3.
The match ended LVC's fall dual schedule; LVC will head to MAC Individual Championships on Oct. 6.
