Misericordia 5, Lebanon Valley 4

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley dropped a tight 5-4 decision to Misericordia on Wednesday, with doubles making the difference for the Cougars.

The Dutchmen (0-2) split the singles matches, but the Cougars (1-0) won two out of three doubles, including a tiebreak victory at No. 1, to win the match.

Christie Graf highlighted LVC's effort with a comeback 5-7, 7-5, 10-5 win over Michelle Cameron at No. 1 singles, and Amelia Capuano also picked up a win in her season debut, cruising past Breanne Phillips 6-2, 6-3. Lauren Shanberg also won at No. 6, 6-4, 6-2 over Emily Hullings.

Misericordia won their singles matches in the middle of the order, with Emily Boro beating Lauren Fulmer 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3, Cassie Foy winning against Mary Kate Lemon 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, and Emily Gheghel beating Lori Noble in three, 5-7, 6-3, 10-6 at No. 5.

In doubles, Cameron and Phillips needed a tiebreak at No. 1 to best Graf and Capuano 9-8 (2), and Gheghel and Hullings won 8-5 over Fulmer and Noble at No. 3. LVC's point came at No. 2 as Meghan Muccilli and Lemon beat Boro and Foy 8-3.

LVC will head to Geneva, N.Y. and William Smith College this weekend to play in the ITA Northeast Regional Championship.
