Lebanon Valley 5, Albright 0
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley rolled into its fifth straight Commonwealth Conference championship match, blanking Albright 5-0 in the CC Semifinals.
Tam Lobb became LVC's single-season doubles wins leader, and the Dutchmen (15-4) reversed a regular-season loss at No. 1 doubles as
Christie Graf and
Amelia Capuano won 9-7.
LVC advances to play at Elizabethtown, a 5-0 winner over Alvernia, on Saturday for the CC title.
Lobb improved to 17-4 in doubles with a win at No. 3 paired with
Meghan Muccilli, beating Melissa Carberry and Ligeia Evans 8-1 to start the day. She now owns the single-season record, previously held by Jan White '08,
Sarah Grodzinski '10, and
Shayna Heintzelman '11.
Lauren Fulmer and
Mary Kate Lemon won 8-3 over Alyssa Sell and Katy Oeste at No. 2, and No. 1 ended up being a battle as Albright's Victoria Foanio and Christina Peacock rallied from 7-4 down to tie the match at 7-7. Graf held serve, then LVC broke Peacock to win 9-7.
In single, it was a pair of shutouts that won the match for LVC. Muccilli quickly dispatched Evans at No. 6, and Lobb closed the match with a win over Peacock at No. 4.
LVC led everywhere else but at No. 1. Capuano was up 5-4 in the first on Sell at No. 2, Fulmer had a set on Oeste at No. 3, and Lemon was up a set on Carberry at No. 5. Foanio won the first set 6-3 on Graf at No. 1.
