Elizabethtown 6, Lebanon Valley 3
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Each of the last four Commonwealth Conference women's tennis finals have pitted LVC against Elizabethtown; a preview of what could be the fifth in a row went Elizabethtown's way on Saturday in a 6-3 win.
The loss snapped an eight-match win streak by the Dutchmen (10-4, 2-1 CC); the Blue Jays (10-2, 2-0 CC) led 2-1 after doubles, then won the bottom four singles flights.
Christie Graf and
Amelia Capuano each went 2-0 for the day, teaming up to beat Madison Pipkin and Allison Burkhardt 8-4 at No. 1 doubles before winning their singles matches, as well. Graf beat Pipkin 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1, and Capuano was a 6-4, 6-2 winner over Alena Marani at No. 2.
Elizabethtown won every other point in straight sets, with on Christina Evangelista being pushed by
Mary Kate Lemon at No. 5 in a 7-5, 6-1 match.
LVC will get back to action Wednesday, hosting Messiah at 3:30 p.m.
