Lycoming 77, Lebanon Valley 72

ANNVILLE, Pa. - Disruptive defense and three-point shooting helped Lycoming tip the game in its favor, beating Lebanon Valley 77-72 in Commonwealth Conference action on Saturday.

The Dutchmen (10-9, 3-5 CC) had the game tied at 70-70, but the Warriors (16-3, 6-2 CC) went 7-for-8 at the line in the final minute to win it.

Danny Brooks led all scorers with 21 points to go with 10 rebounds, while Joe Meehan had 18, including a 12-for-13 day at the line, to become the eighth player in program history to reach 1,500 career points (1,517). Cameron Prince pitched in 14 points.

Lycoming had five players in double figures, led by Mike Bradley's 18, and Kevin Anthony, Anthony Martin, and Chris Foreman each had 12 off the bench. LVC held Jerald Williams, the national leader in assists with 9.8 per game, to just three helpers.

Three-point shooting ended up the difference, with Lyco sinking nine long balls despite a 4-for-8 clip by LVC. The Dutchmen shot 52.4% overall from the floor to the Warriors' 43.4%.  The Warriors pressed all game long, generating 17 turnovers.

LVC led for most of the first half until Lycoming took its first lead in the final minute; the Warriors went up for most of the second half until LVC used a 6-0 run to take a 62-60 lead with 4:14 to play in the game thanks to back-to-back Meehan buckets and a Brooks layup.

The sides traded leads, ultimately heading into the final minute tied at 70, but neither team could make a shot in the final minute. After Lycoming made three of four foul shot chances to go up 73-70, they fouled LVC to prevent the game-tying shot, and the Dutchmen only got one chance as Meehan's long three-point bid with five seconds left was too strong.

LVC will visit Messiah Wednesday night.
