SCRANTON, Pa. - Lebanon Valley won five of six singles matches, including the top four flights, to defeat Scranton 7-2 on Wednesday.
The Dutchmen (2-1) were forced inside to take on the Royals (0-1) due to rain, but it didn't seem to matter as LVC cruised in its seven wins and forced two close matches in Scranton's victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 5 singles.
Christie Graf highlighted the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Stephanie Boccuzzi at No. 1, and freshman
Amelia Capuano beat Devon Cohen 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2 singles to pick up her first collegiate win.
Lauren Fulmer beat Elisha Connell 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3, while Tam Lob was a 6-4, 6-3 winner over Caitlin Ehly at No. 4 and
Mary Kate Lemon earned her first singles win 6-3, 6-1 over Megan Azzalina at No. 6. Scranton's lone singles point came in a marathon No. 5 match as Nicole Mahaffey outlasted
Meghan Muccilli 6-7 (4), 7-5, 10-7.
In doubles, the LVC team of Fulmer and Lemon won at No. 2, 8-3, and Muccilli and Lobb won 8-4 at No. 3. Boccuzzi and Cohen beat Graf and Capuano in a close match at No. 1, 9-8 (4).
LVC will visit Susquehanna on Saturday.
