ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley will try for its fourth consecutive Commonwealth Conference championship match berth when it hosts Messiah on Wednesday in the CC semifinals at 3:30 p.m.
The Dutchmen (11-6, 5-1 CC) cruised by the Falcons (4-10, 3-3 CC) by an 8-1 score last Thursday during their regular-season meeting, and they will hope to carry that momentum through to the playoffs.
Lebanon Valley No. 1
Shayna Heintzelman will also be going for a piece of history in doubles, trying to become LVC's all-time wins leader there. With 47 doubles victories in her career, she is currently tied with former teammate Charissa Nordall '09.
The line-up for Wednesday is expected to be the same as in their meeting last week, with Heintzelman playing Ipsen at No. 1 in the featured singles match after pulling out a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win on Thursday.
Doubles is especially important in tournament play as the match ends at five points, and LVC has turned in strong performances all season long with Heintzelman and
Christie Graf at No. 1,
Lauren Fulmer and
Tam Lobb at No. 2, and
Morgan Brady and Jess Ferlenda at No. 3.
LVC's singles line-up is unchanged, with Fulmer and Graf rounding out the top three spots behind Heintzelman and Lobb, Brady, and
Danielle Bordner anchoring Nos. 4, 5, and 6.
