Baseball Falls To Neumann, 9-2

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A tough offensive Neumann squad tallied 13 hits to claim a 9-2 win over Lebanon Valley baseball Tuesday afternoon. Aaron Mills tallied the only RBI for the Dutchmen.

Held to just four hits, LVC registered three in the first inning. Ryan Schwartz led off with a single, but was caught stealing second base. Colt Zarilla and Jordan Witmer notched the other two singles in the inning.
Neumann broke up the scoreless game in the third inning with a run scoring on an error, and a solo home run in the fourth inning put the Knights up 2-0. Another run scored in each of the next three innings for the 5-0 lead.

Lebanon Valley struck in the eighth inning with two runs scoring. With two outs in the inning, Derek Brousseau and Andrew Germann drew back-to-back walks. Mills loaded the bases with a single and Colt Zarilla walked to send one run home. An error scored another run before a strikeout ended the inning.

The Knights recorded four runs in the ninth inning to seal the victory. Two doubles and a sacrifice fly scored the runners.

Dustin Deibert started on the mound for LVC and pitched four and two-thirds innings. Caleb Fick tossed one and one-third innings, recording two strikeouts. Ian Younker and Peter Moro each pitched one inning, while David Callahan faced two batters in the ninth. Finishing the game, Brent McDowell pitched to seven batters.

The Dutchmen return to action Wednesday when they host DeSales at 3:30 p.m.
