ANNVILLE, Pa. – Tough defense pushed #11/#12 Christopher Newport to a 62-50 win over #17/#16 Lebanon Valley in the Sectional Round of the NCAA Tournament, sending the Captains to the Final Four.

Suzie Noyes and Caitlin Bach scored 14 points each to lead the Dutchmen, and Liz Borgia added eight. Limited to single digit rebounds, Noyes, Fritz, and Bach grabbed seven boards each. Andrea Hoover posted a team-high five assists and Noyes notched four steals.

Three players scored in double digits for the Captains, including 27 from Chelsie Schweers. Using points off turnovers to its advantage, Christopher Newport scored 26 points in the game.

Christopher Newport hit three-straight shots and went on 14-2 run to open the contest. Back-to-back baskets from Tierney Hiltz and Caitlin Murphy cut the Captains lead to single digits. The Dutchmen came within eight points two more times in the first half, but Christopher Newport pulled away.

Hitting an 18 point lead with 3:38 remaining in the first, Lebanon Valley rattled off an 8-1 run to end the half down 35-24.

Lebanon Valley kept pace early in the second half, cutting Christopher Newport's advantage to seven points four times. A jumper and layup from Hoover at the halfway mark of the second put the Dutchmen within three points, but that was as close as they'd come.

Scoring 19 points and limiting Lebanon Valley to 10 points down the stretch, Christopher Newport sealed the win and trip to the Final Four.

The Dutchmen shot 36.7% from the floor, 10% behind the arc, and 71.4% at the free throw line. The Captains shot 42.6% from the floor, 41.7% behind the arc, and 70.8% at the free throw line.

Lebanon Valley concludes the season with a 28-3 overall mark, setting a new program record for most wins in a single season. Along with recording the first NCAA win in school history, the Dutchmen also reached the Elite 8 round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.

Seniors Andrea Hoover, Suzie Noyes, and Eryn Schultz end their historic careers as leaders in many categories. Hoover finished with 1,170 points and 586 assists, the sixth all-time scorer in school history and all-time assists leader. Noyes became the fifth all-time leading scorer after tallying 1,185 in her four years. Despite having her senior season cut short, Schultz finished as the program's leader in 3-pointers made with 201 in 85 games.
