Lebanon Valley 57, Misericordia 54
DALLAS, Pa. - Throughout the first half, Misericordia controlled the floor against Lebanon Valley and headed to halftime up 27-22. For the first time this season, the #8 Dutchmen headed into the second half without a lead.
But sophomore forward
Caitlin Bach elevated her game and led the team into a 14-0 run that overcame a 14-point deficit. She finished with her second double-double of the season with 16 points and 13 rebounds.
The Dutchmen (7-0, 2-0 CC) opened the run on a Bach layup off a pass from junior guard
Tierney Hiltz. Hiltz followed up with her own booming three pointer.
Bach followed with a pair of free throws and then a layup with an and-one basket from the free throw line.
Junior center
Renee Fritz converted a pass from Hiltz into a successful jumper, bringing the Dutchmen within two at 47-45.
Finally, Bach swooped in for another layup with 5:13 to play to give the team its first tie of the game. The Dutchmen were clearly recharged and began playing basket-for-basket with the Cougars (3-4).
LVC took its first lead of the game on a pair of free throws from Hiltz with 1:25 to play. Her shots put the team up 55-53.
The Dutchmen battled on until the end and ended the game in a familiar way with a 57-54 win.
Freshman guard
Kiely Chaklos scored nine points, Fritz scored eight, and junior forward
Liz Borgia scored another six.
Caitlin Murphy did a fine job keeping the Cougars in check on defense with six rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
Next up, LVC plays at Brooklyn College Thursday night at 8 p.m.
