READING, Pa.
- Lebanon Valley got off to a good start to 2011-12 at Albright Tuesday night, turning in some record-breaking performances in their season opener.

The LVC women earned six event wins and two new program records, with Albright winning the meet 107-89. Albright also won the men's meet 118-59.

Freshman Jan Ikeda smashed the LVC 100-yard butterfly record by nearly six seconds, winning in 58.08 to better the mark of 1:03.98 set in 2008. Her time, just 0.42 seconds off the NCAA "B" cut, is faster than any 100-fly time recorded in MAC Championships competition, and more than four seconds under last year's gold-medal winning time of 1:02.27. Ikeda also won the 500-yard free in 5:37.56.

The women's 200 medley relay of Alicia Hain, Mary Gardner, Jan Ikeda, and Gabbie Groff got in just under the old record, finishing third in 2:00.14 to skim five one-hundreths of a second off the old mark set in 2006.

The women's 200-free relay cruised to an event win in 1:51.36, with Groff, Noelle Brossman, Kristen Zartman, and Charlie Robinson on the relay.

Individually, Kris Roaten won the 1,000-yard freestyle, finishing in 12:12.69, and Julia Mongeau won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:15.90, winning by 0.19 of a second.

Hain was second in the 200-yard free in 2:07.60, Julia Mongeau came in second in the 200 IM at 2:22.37, getting out-touched by just 0.13 seconds, and Brossman was second in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:10.33.

For the men, Shane Miller and Collin Straka went 2-3 in the 50-free, finishing in 25.56 and 265.98, respectively. Matt Dwyer grabbed second in the 100-backstroke with a 1:01.90, and Eliott Bonds came in second in the 100-yard breaststroke, finishing in 1:11.96.

In relay action, the men's 200-free team of Dwyer, Brett Frazier, Tyler Wells, and Bonds was third in 1:45.98, while the 200 medley relay of Gabriel Lincoln-DeCusatis, Erik Brandt, Dwyer, and Frazier finished fourth in 2:04.69.

LVC will open at home on Friday night, hosting Arcadia for their first annual Pink Meet at 6 p.m. All proceeds from the meet will benefit Susan G. Komen For the Cure.
