ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley swimming teams had five student-athletes named Academic All-District® by College Sports Communicators (CSC) in a release by the professional organization this week.
The Academic All-District® Swimming & Diving Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the pool and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes swimming honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA. In order to be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and have swam in 75 percent of competitions, or finish top eight at a conference meet, or participate in a national championship, with a limit of four nominations per gender per school. Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
The five Dutchmen who were honored are
Natalie Bourne,
Lily McNutt,
Roman Schelhorn,
Jana Shoffner, and
Marina Weidman.
Bourne is a senior Exercise Science major from Columbia, Pennsylvania. She swam in eight meets this season and was on four relay teams at the MAC Championships. Bourne anchored the 200-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard medley relay team at the conference championship meet. This is her third consecutive year earning Academic All-District honors.
McNutt is a sophomore Social Justice and Civic Engagement and Sociology major from Mary D, Pennsylvania. She swam in seven meets and was on four relay teams at the MAC Championships. McNutt was the lead-off leg on the 200-yard freestyle relay team at the conference championship meet. This is her first career Academic All-District honor.
Schelhorn is a senior Economics major from Palmyra, Pennsylvania. He swam in eight meets and swam in the 100-yard breaststroke at the MAC Championships. Schelhorn finished 28th in the 100 breast at the conference championship meet. This is his second consecutive year earning Academic All-District honors.
Shoffner is a sophomore Exercise Science major from Red Lion, Pennsylvania. She swam in eight meets and was on four relay teams at the MAC Championships. Shoffner anchored the 200-yard medley relay team and the 400-yard medley relay team at the conference championship meet. This is her first career Academic All-District honor.
Weidman is a sophomore History, Political Science, and Psychology major from Grantville, Pennsylvania. She swam in seven meets and was on four relay teams, as well as swimming in the 100-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard butterfly, and the 200-yard individual medley at the MAC Championships. Weidman finished 24th in the 100 fly, 26th in the 100 breast, and 27th in the 200 IM while also being the lead-off leg for the 200-yard freestyle relay, the 400-yard freestyle relay, and the 400-yard medley relay teams at the conference championship meet. This is her first career Academic All-District honor.
