ANNVILLE, Pa. – The Lebanon Valley volleyball team (18-6) opened up Saturday's Oktoberfest festivities with a 3-0 (25-12, 25-15, 25-23) win over nonconference foes Muhlenberg (6-14).

They didn't fare as well in the second match, losing to Stevenson (24-2), 0-3 (21-25, 20-25, 21-25).

Kacey Musselman was masterful managing the offense against Muhlenberg, finishing with 30 assists. It was the seventh consecutive game that Musselman finished with at least 30.

Musselman has had a reliable target in Jamie Hawk, who built a streak of her own. Hawk finished with nine kills against Muhlenberg, creating a streak of eight matches with at least nine kills. She finished the match with a .400 hitting percentage.

It was not the sharpest game offensively for the Dutchmen, who fell from a .286 hitting percentage in the first set to just .087 in the third. They relied on mistakes made by the Mules, who never hit above .053.

Angela Kuperavage and Jess Finlayson led the defense with 18 and 10 digs, respectively.

Though they kept each set close in the second match, the Dutchmen couldn't keep up with Stevenson. The team never hit above .100 in the match.

Nicole Barra led the attack with eight attacks, while Hawk finished with just six. Hawk's streak of nine+ kill games ended. Musselman finished with 25 assists, which also ended her 30+ streak at seven games.

The Dutchmen's defense kept them in the game. Four women finished with double-digit digs: Musselman (19), Kuperavage (17), Sasha Birosik (10) and Finlayson (10). The team combined for four blocks, including solos by Hawk and Krystal Wirey.

LVC hosts Arcadia Tuesday at 7 p.m. The Dutchmen have just five regular season matches remaining.
