Women's Basketball
Lebanon Valley 78, Manhattanville 70

Box Score

ANNVILLE, Pa. – A career-high 18 points from Renee Fritz led #17 Lebanon Valley women's basketball to a 78-70 win over Manhattanville Thursday evening. Four other players reached double digit scoring for the Dutchmen in their final non-conference game of the regular season.

Fritz went 8-for-8 from the floor and made both free throws she was awarded, along with posting a team-best two blocks. She tied an individual record for field goals made set by teammate Eryn Schultz, who went 8-for-8 from the field against Misericordia on Nov. 17, 2009.

Also notching double digit point totals were Andrea Hoover (13), Lauren Ruhl (12), Tierney Hiltz (10) and Suzie Noyes (10). In her second double-double of the season, Noyes had a team-high 10 rebounds. Hiltz led the squad with three steals and tied Hoover in assists with four each.

Manhattanville (7-5) opened the game with a 3-pointer from Taylor Wilson before Lebanon Valley (12-1) made two baskets to lead 4-3. Scoring 11 straight, the Dutchmen jumped out to a nine point lead at the 13:32 mark. Tying up the score for the second time in the game, the Valiants went up by four with 7:16 to play. LVC led by eight points at the half after holding the Valiants to six points in the final six minutes.

Wilson notched five 3-pointers in the first half and tallied a team-high 16 points. Lebanon Valley defense held her to just one 3-pointer in the second half as she went on to finish with a team-best 21 points.

Despite a tough effort from Manhattanville in the second half, Lebanon Valley maintained the lead. The Dutchmen went up by 13 points at 14:42 and the Valiants responded with 11 points, including three 3-pointers to come within two.

That was as close as the game would get even after a late surge cut LVC's advantage to five points with 1:44 to play. Strong free throw shooting by the Dutchmen kept the Valiants at bay and secured the 78-70 win.

The Dutchmen shot 58.3% from the floor in the second half and finished with 50.9% in the game. At the line, LVC went 19-23 and was 3-for-7 from behind the arc.

Lebanon Valley continues Commonwealth Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Arcadia for a 1 p.m. game.
