ANNVILLE, Pa. – Season-high point totals from
Lauren Ruhl and
Andrea Hoover led #19 Lebanon Valley women's basketball to a 74-46 win over Salisbury Monday afternoon. Ruhl dished out 18 points, while Hoover had 17 in the Dutchmen's sixth-straight victory.
Hoover added a team-best seven assists and was 4-for-4 from the free throw line, while Ruhl went 7-for-11 from the field and shot 50% from behind the arc. Ten players recorded three or more rebounds for LVC, led by 10 from
Caitlin Murphy. Racking up a team-high three steals and adding seven rebounds was
Tierney Hiltz.
Ruhl scored 15 of her 18 points in the first half, pacing Lebanon Valley (10-1) to a 44-18 lead at the half. Hoover tallied seven points and Murphy added six through the first 20 minutes. The Dutchmen opened with the game's first two baskets and controlled from there, never allowing Salisbury to take the lead or tie the game.
Holding the Sea Gulls to just seven points at the half way mark of the first, the Dutchmen ran out to a 13 point lead. Four 3-pointers, including three from Ruhl in the final 10 minutes of the first half, extended Lebanon Valley's advantage to 26 points. The team was led by its supporting cast in the first half as players off the bench scored 23 of the team's 44 points.
A more even second half had LVC scoring 30 points to 28 from Salisbury. Hoover notched a team-high 10 points in the final frame and Hiltz added nine.
Returning from the break, Lebanon Valley went on a run early in the second half, scoring nine points to lead 55-21. Salisbury responded with a streak, tallying seven straight points before the Dutchmen posted 15 of the next 17 points to reach their largest advantage of the game at 40 points. The teams traded points for the remainder of the contest and the Sea Gulls finished with back-to-back 3-pointers.
Shooting 50% from the field in the first half, the Dutchmen finished with 43.1% in the contest. Perfect on both free throws awarded in the first 20 minutes, LVC went 10-for-13 in the final frame for an 80% total.
Lebanon Valley returns to action on Thursday, hosting Manhattanville at 7 p.m. in the team's final non-conference contest of the regular season.
