ANNVILLE, Pa. - Susquehanna's Dana Freshley won the decisive match at No. 6 singles as she led her team to a 5-4 win over Lebanon Valley Saturday.
The Crusaders (4-0) stayed perfect for the season as they split the singles points after taking a 2-1 lead in doubles. LVC (1-2) got singles wins at Nos. 1 and 2 from
Shayna Heintzelman and
Lauren Fulmer at No. 4 by
Christie Graf.
It was a 4-4 match when Freshley got her win at No. 6 over
Alyssa Kulp, 6-3, 6-3, to secure victory for Susquehanna. At No. 1, Heintzelman eased to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Abby Hess, and Fulmer had little trouble at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Jessica Klinger. Graf won 6-1, 6-0 over Whitney Arcaro at No. 4.
SU picked up points at Nos. 3 and 5, as Ellen Pullsinelle won a three-setter over
Tam Lobb 7-5, 1-6, 6-2, and Cassie Zerbe beat
Sarah Beatty 6-0, 6-4.
In doubles, Heintzelman and Graf beat Klinger and Hess, 8-5, at No. 1, but SU managed to win the other two points. Lerner and Arcaro teamed to beat Lobb and Fulmer at No. 2, 8-5, and Pullsinelle and Freshley defeated Kulp and Beatty 8-2 at No. 3.
LVC hosts Neumann on Monday.
