ANNVILLE, Pa. - Lebanon Valley cruised to its first win of the fall Thursday, topping Goucher 7-2 behind strong performances up and down the ladder.
The Dutchmen (1-1) won two of three doubles matches before winning five singles points to beat the Gophers (1-1).
In doubles, the No. 2 team of
Tam Lobb and
Lauren Fulmer picked up an 8-3 win over Mara Bergman and Addie Maxwell, and
Alyssa Kulp and
Sarah Beatty won at No. 3, 8-2, over Andrea Stephaich and Jacqui Lamer.
Shayna Heintzelman and
Christie Graf dropped a close match as Joan Pulupa and Meaghan Lee came from behind to win 9-7.
Singles was highlighted by a great match between Heintzelman and Pulupa as the LVC senior battled to a 7-5, 6-4 win at No. 1, and Fulmer showed good form in a 6-2, 6-0 win over Lee at No. 2.
Three Dutchmen picked up their first career singles wins as Graf won 6-2, 6-2, over Maxwell at No. 4, Beatty beat Ryan Derham 6-0, 6-3 at No. 5, and Kulp topped Stephaich 6-2, 6-3, at No. 6. LVC's only loss came at No. 3 as Bergman came back from a set down to beat Lobb, 2-6, 6-3 (10-8).
LVC will host Susquehanna on Saturday in a combined men's/women's match at noon.
