ANNVILLE, Pa
. - A strong Wilkes University team was too much for Lebanon Valley College, snapping LVC's four-match win streak with an 8-1 non-conference win on Thursday.

The Colonels (13-4), who are regionally ranked #17, were too much for the Dutchmen (16-2) as LVC suffered just its second dual match loss of the season. For LVC, it was the final tune-up before next week's Commonwealth Conference team playoffs.

Freshman Lauren Fulmer finished the regular season undefeated in dual-match play, picking up LVC's lone point by defeating MAC No. 4 champion Alexis Donner, 6-4, 6-0, to move to 18-0 in dual play.

In a rematch of the MAC Individual Tournament No. 1 Singles final from the fall, Wilkes' Melanie Nolt repeated her victory over LVC's Sarah Grodzinski, 6-2, 6-4, dealing Grodzinski her first dual loss of the season after the senior won her first 17 matches.

Wilkes' Katie Lynn defeated Shayna Heintzelman, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 2, and Victoria Bybel beat Tamera Lobb 6-3, 6-0 at No. 3. At No. 5, Bekah Shanaman topped Caitlin Bedford 6-2, 6-0, and Michelle Knight won 6-0, 6-3 over Morgan Brady at No. 6.

Wilkes swept doubles, with Nolt and Bybel coming back to win over Grodzinski and Heintzelman in a tiebreak at No. 1 9-8 (7-1). Lynn and Donner won 8-2 at No. 2 over Lobb and Fulmer, and Shanaman and Knight beat Brady and Jess Ferlenda 8-4 at No. 3.

LVC begins its defense of the CC title next Tuesday, hosting Messiah in the playoff semifinals.
