ANNVILLE, Pa. - Messiah's Andrew Wismer won the decisive match at No. 3 singles over Lebanon Valley's #
Andrew Deckert# to break a 4-4 tie and give Messiah a 5-4 victory on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (8-6, 3-3 CC) are now done with Commonwealth Conference play, and will be the fourth seed in the CC playoffs starting May 5. LVC will travel to top-seeded Elizabethtown in one semifinal, while third seed Messiah (7-10, 4-2 CC) will visit second-seeded Lycoming in the other.
The Falcons came back from being down 2-1 after doubles to win four singles matches, including the top three flights. LVC got wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles and from #
Jon Gingrich# at No. 4 and #
Joel Ramos# at No. 6 singles.
Jansen Hein and Luke Hostetter eased to wins at Nos. 1 and 2 over #
Ethan Grodzinski# and #
Tom Neckelmann#, respectively, and Adam Sheir beat #
Kyle Kahl# at No. 5.
However, Ramos pulled out a 7-6 (7-5), 6-2 win over Lake Sisson at No. 6, and Gingrich was a 6-3, 6-2 winner over Kyle Keen at No. 4 to set up No. 3 as the decisive match. Wismer won a tight first set 7-6 (7-5), then won another close one 7-5 to secure the match win.
LVC will visit King's on Wednesday for their final tune-up before MAC Individual Championships.
