CHESTER, Pa. - A strong second half from Widener led the Pride to a 68-60 win over #21/#20 Lebanon Valley Sunday afternoon, ending LVC's win streak. Junior Suzie Noyes led the Dutchmen with 18 points, while classmate Eryn Schultz posted 12 points.
The Dutchmen (19-2, 9-1) scored 34 points in the first half to take an eight point lead into the half over Widener (11-10, 7-3).
Sarah Colton opened the game with a layup for LVC and added a jumper just 36 seconds later to take an early lead. The Dutchmen maintained a lead over the Pride for the remainder of the first half, tying twice and holding an eight point advantage at the end of the first.
Widener scored 42 points in the second half and held Lebanon Valley to 26 points to secure the victory.
The second half featured five ties until 4:25 left in the game when Kate Dellinger hit a jumper for Widener to take the lead. The Pride maintained their advantage for the remainder of the game to post the win.
Freshmen Liz Borgia and Sarah Colton both added eight points for the Dutchmen, while sophomore Caitlin Murphy and freshman Tierney Hiltz notched a team-high five rebounds each. Murphy also posted a team-best three steals and Eryn Schultz led LVC with five assists in the game.
Widener limited LVC to just 11 points off the bench, and held the advantage in points off turnovers and points in the paint.
LVC continues Commonwealth Conference play at #11 Messiah on Wednesday. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
