Men's Basketball
Lebanon Valley 89, Lancaster Bible 72

Box Score

LANCASTER, Pa
. - Joe Meehan and Anthony Trautman both scored 22 points and Grant Becker added 17 to lead Lebanon Valley past Lancaster Bible, 89-72, in the first-ever meeting between the two schools.

The Dutchmen (5-3) shot an exceptional 18-for-20 from the line three days after their 2-for-8 performance at Alvernia on Saturday, and they turned in another big defensive performance with 15 steals, one shy of the program record set earlier this season against Wilkes.

The Chargers (2-5) gave LVC all they could handle, getting 20 points from Kody Koser and nabbing 13 steals overall, but Lebanon Valley used a huge 19-1 run around halftime to erase Lancaster Bible's eight-point first-half lead and take a commanding advantage.

Meehan added seven assists and four steals to his 22 points, and Trautman turned in seven boards and three thefts to with four three-pointers. Becker's 17 points came with seven boards and three steals; freshman Joey Giangiobbe made his first career start, scoring six points. Sean MacIntosh had 11 points off the bench.

LVC shot 54.2% (32-of-59) from the floor, including 7-of-18 (38.9%) from beyond the arc. Lancaster Bible also shot well, going 28-for-57 (49.1%) overall.

The hosts led from the start, extending their lead to seven when Koser drained a three-pointer with 6:50 left in the half. That would be the last field goal the Chargers would make in the half as LVC embarked on a 15-1 run to end the period, holding LBC to a single free throw. Trautman accounted for seven points in that run, including a three-pointer before the break.

The Dutchmen took full advantage in the second half, getting buckets by Becker and Meehan to start before Kevin Keltner stopped the run with a jumper 43 seconds in. LVC kept on the pressure, however, hitting another streak that would put them up 16 on a Meehan three-pointer with 12:03 left and cruising from there.

LVC will visit Moravian on Saturday.
