ANNVILLE, Pa. – Lebanon Valley women's basketball opened the 2010-11 season with a 62-52 victory over Misericordia Monday evening at LVC Gymnasium. Freshman
Lauren Ruhl led the squad in her debut, recording 13 points.

Andrea Hoover added 11 points and seven assists in the win and was one of three Dutchmen to go perfect from the free throw line, making all four of her shots and helping lead the team to a 72% free throw mark for the game. Sophomore

The Dutchmen totaled 26 rebounds against the Cougars, with five players posting three or more. Hoover led the team in rebounding with four, all of which were defensive boards. LVC notched 17 steals led by six from
Suzie Noyes and four from Ruhl.
The first half proved to be a low scoring affair with Lebanon Valley holding a 27-19 lead at the half. The teams traded points early on until Misericordia took a four point lead five minutes in. A three-pointer from Ruhl and a jumper from Schultz put the Dutchmen back on top. LVC went on a roll from there, pushing its lead to 11 points with six minutes remaining and maintained an eight point advantage at the break.
Starting the second half, the Dutchmen claimed an eight point lead until a 3-pointer from Tyrann McDaniel cut Misericordia's deficit. McDaniel hit another just over a minute later to put the Cougars back within three points and a layup by Hannah Seely tied the score at 37 aside with 12:15 remaining.
Misericordia regained the lead at 10:09 and again at 8:57 in the second half. Another 3-pointer from Ruhl put LVC back in the driver's seat and the squad never looked back, extending its lead to 13 points with 3:02 to play in the second half. The Dutchmen defense held the Cougars from then on, allowing them just nine points while scoring six down the stretch to record the 62-52 victory.
Lebanon Valley hits the road on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. game at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
