WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The LVC women's tennis team began its defense of its Commonwealth Conference championship with an 8-1 victory over Lycoming on Saturday.
The Dutchmen (2-0, 1-0 CC) swept the doubles matches before winning five of six singles to top the Warriors (0-3, 0-0 CC).
Sarah Grodzinski won at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1, over Rebecca Reynolds, and
Shayna Heintzelman won by the same score at No. 2 against Erika Niemann.
Tamera Lobb was a 6-0, 6-2 winner over Kelly Drinkard at No. 3, and
Lauren Fulmer shut out Adriana Rivera at No. 5 before
Jess Ferlenda beat Abby Petritsch, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 6.
Caitlin Bedford fell in three sets to Katie Walker at No. 4.
LVC will host Penn State Harrisburg on Tuesday.
