LVC vs. PSU-Altoona Box Score
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Score it a perfect 10!
With a pair of wins on the final day of the Flying Dutchman Tournament, the Lebanon Valley College volleyball team set a new school record for wins to start a season. LVC is now 10-0, eclipsing the 1995 team's 9-0 mark as the best run to open a campaign.
The Dutchmen defeated Philadelphia Biblical, 3-0 (25-23, 25-18, 25-12) to tie the mark - and advance to the final of their own tournament.
In the championship match, LVC defeated PSU-Altoona for the second time in the tournament, 3-1 (25-15, 25-22, 15-25, 25-21). The win clinched LVC's second Flying Dutchmen Tournament championship in as many years, and third in the history of the tourney.
Against Philly Bible, the Dutchmen were balanced on the attack. They scored 12 kills to just four errors in all three sets. Thre different players had eight kills apiece - Jamie Hawk, Michelle Little and Emily Hopkins. Emily Perkins dished out 22 assists and Ally Stengel added 11 in one set of work. Joelle Snyder served up four aces while assisting on three blocks to go with her six kills.
In the championship match, Emily Hopkins carried the Dutchmen. She took 49 swings at the net and came away from 21 of those with the kill. Only three times did she commit and error.
While Hopkins was the focal point, the depth of LVC's attack made sure that PSU-Altoona had to spread its defense thin to cover the court. Seven other players had kills for LVC. Snyder had seven while Michelle Little added six. Hawk and Perkins came away with four each.
Perkins also registered 45 assists. As a team, Lebanon Valley had 95 digs. Five different players finished with at least 10 digs. Angela Kuperavage was the key cog in the defense with 30 digs.
At the end of the tournament, eight players were named to the all-tournament team. They were:
Emily Hopkins – LVC

Kelsie Bumbarger – PSU-Altoona
Jelena Markovic – Centenary
